Come See Inside our Barn

We have been cleaning inside our barn.
We are going to start exploring what size windows and doors we need to make it come to life.
I think I told you a while back that we want to desperately start having weddings and antique art shows in it.
Well since we inherited it we have not had the time much less tons of money to do it. But we will do a little at a time.
This side I am showing you will be part of the wedding and shows. The other side...which is a mess we want to turn into a VRBO or for the wedding couple to spend the night in.
It is a daunting task but we really want to do this for retirement. I want Hubs to retire early and devote this for our extra income.

This side will have a huge door opening to a 12 foot deck that will overlook our fields.

Love the height and the majestic wood.

This is the other side that we want to make into a VRBO or small apartment.  To the left of the picture or where the basketball hoop is will be a loft area.

Love the ceiling

Love the old hand hulled wood. When I was younger we actually stacked hay to the ceiling of this huge barn.
Hard task back then.

Awesome ladder

To the top right is an old oat cutter machine. That will stay I love the look.

Back part of the barn again

The VRBO side again. The structure to the left we had as a grain bin. We want it to house a bathroom kitchen and laundry room. On top of the structure we want to make bunk beds along the wall and a master suite as well. It is quite large.

Ok, you now have a little insight of our plan.
I will keep you up-dated along the way.

Yeah it is hump day Wednesday!
Hope your week is going wonderfully!

Cheers,
Shel

***How Do Your Flowers Grow?***

Queen Anne's Lace
I know typical weed to many people but I love this sweet thing.
We have not had rain since? I give up.
And most of my flowers look horrid.
We have 50 some acres and we can't water everything.
I had put perennials in over the years.
Generally hardy suckers, but this drought has done them in.
But to my amazement these lovelies are popping and thriving all over our fields and yard.

Day Lily, love the color

Purple Coneflower
One of my Fave flowers of all time

Flax
Not a huge fan but they have actually survived this weather as  well.

Love this yellow

I believe these are called Lion's Bane
They are a weed and we are constantly pulling them out. They over
take my whole garden. They are pretty though.

Who does not love a sweet Black Eyed Susan?

Love the Orange Coneflowers
I found red this year but they are doing poorly.
Hopefully I can photograph them next year and share their wonderful color with you.

Delphiniums

Lamb's Ears
Soft an sweet

Mallow

Holly Hock
I so want to find Red ones

Day Lilly again

Day Lilly

We are lacking butterflies this year. I am sure it is the drought  that is keeping them away.
I have seen so few this summer, makes me sad.

Hope your week is going well.
We are suppose to get rain today so I am keeping all my
appendages crossed. From my eyes all the way down to my toes.

I have been working on Pinterest.com and Wanelo.com lately.
Check those sites out for our things.
Both are fun as all get out!

Stay Cool

Cheers,
Shel

The Ocean is a Powerful Creature

This is a wild day in Fort Bragg

Same place as above picture on a calmer day.

This is at one of many of  Port Reyes beachs.
Had gone to about 5 that day I lost count on which one this was.

                                     Beaches of Point Reyes

Wildcat Beach
The Great Beach
Sculptured Beach
Palomarin Beach
McClures Beach
Marshall Beach
Limantour Beach
Kelham Beach
Kehoe Beach
Drakes Beach
Abbotts Lagoon Beach

I do this every year...just a reminder we were there. We write it and watch it disappear with the tide.

This is at Drakes Beach

Drakes Beach

Madly in love with the ocean. It is breathtaking and scary and powerful all at the same time.
I don't swim and these kinds of waves confirms to me I never will.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Cheers,

Shel :)

*** Creatures From California ***

Another story from our California trip
We went searching for sea creatures along the ocean.

We were walking amongst the rocks looking for sea creatures one beautiful day. A tad distance away watching us were a pair of young calf's.
The one to the left could have cared less we were there it's partner just kept giving us the stink eye. I believe  we made a lot of noise laughing, trying not to fall on our bums walking among the slippery rocks.

This was in Fort Bragg, in one of their many parks.
We went starfish hunting.
Living in the Midwest we have all kinds of fun creatures.
But nothing compared to these beauties.
We were so blessed to see the wonderful colors.
I was awe struck at the creatures and colors beneath the sea.

Dark purple, he looks like a hand, don't you think?

Bright Orange, his or her body  has a spiderweb look.

Red , was at such a angle attached to a rock that if we tried any harder to take a picture we would have fell on our butts.

Brown beauty, what can a person say about this sweet thing?

Hope you have a great weekend.
Pop on over and see some of the goodies we have
put up on Etsy.
Cheers,
Shel :)

Always amazes me that people get rid of these beauties

Cool retro 50's - 60's blanket for your retro cool bedroom!
Love the color combo.

Front and back

This is lovely and hardly any wear to it.
It is from Faribo one of my all time fave blanket makers.
This one is from the 50's-60's.
Love the colors.

Another Faribo.
How sweet for fall.
And those soon football games we love to go to.
So why not go in style with a bright warm blanket right?

Nice old ad about Faribo.

If you have time pop on over to Etsy and see these beauties and many more that are up.

Have a great day.
We actually got a little rain...woo woo.
Not enough but we take what we can get and be happy!

Cheers,
Shel
